The Solar Dome in Eco Park, Kolkata, is India’s first renewable energy museum, designed to raise awareness about sustainable energy solutions and climate change.
Originally conceived to display the state’s electricity board heritage Hub, it was later, through a design competition, envisioned as a futuristic museum for Renewable Energy.
-The spatial narrative is designed as an immersive chronicle of humanity’s escalating energy demands and critical dependence on fossil fuels—culminating in an urgent call to action.
–Symbol of Renewable Consciousness
First-of-its-kind in India: The Solar Dome is the first solar-powered building of this scale and typology in the country, designed entirely around renewable energy principles.
–Symbol of Green Advocacy
Through architectural storytelling, dynamic exhibition design, and sensorial interventions, the museum becomes an epicentre of green advocacy. It challenges visitors to confront the environmental precipice we face, while simultaneously inspiring them to embrace a sustainable lifestyle. The built environment thus becomes both educator and catalyst—revolutionizing perceptions of energy and empowering individuals to become agents of ecological change.
The design is pedagogical—it teaches by being. Visitors experience the integration of green tech in a tangible, engaging way. Visitors absorb sustainability not through instruction, but through experience.
